PREPARATION

A structured course for students preparing for entrance exams in art, architecture, and design. The program focuses on academic drawing, painting, composition, and visual thinking, with an emphasis on understanding rather than memorizing formulas.

Taught by an art professor who previously taught at the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia, with a 100% admission success rate among her students.

SAFAA
Painting, graphics

  • Students aged 15 and above who are preparing for admission to the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia, specifically the Painting, Graphics, or Sculpture programs.

    The course is also suitable for students who are not yet ready to apply but want to work toward these admission requirements in advance.

  • Absolutely. The course is designed for complete beginners as well as experienced students.

  • Yes. It strengthens fundamentals, fills gaps in existing knowledge, and develops a broader visual and technical toolkit. It provides a strong practical foundation for fine art and other visual fields, including illustration, design, animation, and 3D art.

  • Foundations of Art — Adults: 17+
    Foundations of Art — Teens: 11–16
    Admission Preparation: for students preparing for art, architecture, or design entrance exams.

  • The complete curriculum takes approximately 10 months. You may leave whenever you choose; students who complete the full curriculum receive a certificate.

    The adult and teen Foundations of Art meet twice a week, with each class lasting two hours. Admission Preparation is available at different intensities depending on your level and available preparation time.

  • Perspective, light and shadow, anatomy, proportions, color and painting, composition, observation, and visual thinking.

    The curriculum is structured, but the learning process is personalized according to each student's level, needs, and goals.

  • You will receive the necessary information and materials to catch up with the group.

  • Payment is made in advance to secure your place. Tuition is non-refundable.

  • Classes, live model sessions, gallery visits, workshops, selected Mansard events, and a certificate upon completion.

  • Yes. You are welcome to attend one trial class before registering.

  • Preparation is available for SAFAA Painting, Graphics, and Sculpture, and NUACA Architecture and Design, according to each program's requirements.

  • Two classes per week can be sufficient for students with existing skills and enough preparation time. Beginners or students with limited time are recommended to attend three or more times per week.

  • Vicat Hovhannisyan, artist and art educator, with extensive teaching experience including at the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia.

  • The methodology focuses on observation, cognitive skills, visual perception, and the way the brain processes information - making complex artistic concepts easier to understand and apply. It has been developed through years of teaching experience.

ABOUT US

  • Vicat Hovhannisyan is a multidisciplinary artist with lifelong experience in art and education. She has taught at the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia, and spent several years teaching digital drawing and developing educational content at TUMO, where she mentored hundreds of students across Armenia. She later co-founded Mansard, an independent creative hub and collaborative space dedicated to artistic exploration, learning, and innovation.

  • Mansard Studios is an independent art hub founded by artist Vicat Hovhannisyan, musician Shahen Khandkaryan, and filmmaker/photographer Mikayel Petrosyan.
    It serves as both a creative workspace and a community platform, regularly hosting live figure drawing sessions, exhibitions, music events, film screenings, and educational workshops.
